President's Letter

On behalf of the Hunters Creek Elementary PTA, I would like to welcome you to the 2010-2011 school year. Parental involvement is critical in continuing the excellence we enjoy at Hunters Creek Elementary. We are fortunate to have so many wonderful and committed parents who generously volunteer their time and talents.

“Peace, Tribes & HCE” is our theme for the school year. The theme promotes peace in our HCE community by celebrating the tribes agreements of mutual respect, attentive listening, no put downs and the right to pass. Tribes' is a program to bring students, teachers, administrators and community together to create a school environment that is safe and nurturing which optimizes learning. Tribes has been used at HCE for several years and helps make HCE the great campus that it is. Throughout the year, you will see many references to this theme in our various events, activities and communications.

The weekly newsletter, "The Tribes Tribune", published by our PTA volunteers will keep you informed about what is happening at school, with specifics on events and ways to get and stay involved. To the extent possible, we will continue to distribute the newsletter and PTA related information via email. Also additional information can be found on our website: www.hcepta.com.

Our PTA plays an active role in the academic success and enrichment of HCE students by providing funding in many areas. Our PTA completely funds the Spanish, Technology and Literacy Library programs, as well as teacher professional training and numerous curriculum enhancements. In addition the PTA provides volunteers and funding for many fun events for our children such as Family Fair, Spelling Bee, Science Fair, Book Fair, Field Day and Winds of Time.

PTA meetings are a great way to get involved and find out what is happening here at HCE. Following are the PTA meetings for 2010-2011:

Whether you are new to the school or you have been at HCE for years, we would love for you to be involved and help make this year another wonderful year at HCE.
