President Notes

Howdy & welcome to another great year at Hunters Creek Elementary!  The PTA plays an important role here at HCE and we couldn’t do it without your support.  We are fortunate to have so many wonderful and committed parents volunteer their time and talents. I know this year won’t be any different!

“Cowboy Up Cougars!” is our theme for the school year.  HCE needs our support more than ever - but I know that with a positive attitude and can-do spirit we can accomplish anything we put our minds to.  So strap on those boots and get ready to kick up your heels.  It’s going to be a wild ride!

The weekly newsletter, "The Cougar Call Out", published by our PTA volunteers will keep you informed about what is happening at school, with specifics on events and ways to get and stay involved. To the extent possible, we will continue to distribute the newsletter and PTA related information via email. Also additional information can be found on our website: www.hcepta.com.

Our PTA plays an active role in the academic success and enrichment of HCE students by providing funding in many areas. Our PTA completely funds the Spanish, Technology and Literacy Library programs, as well as teacher professional training and numerous curriculum enhancements. In addition the PTA provides volunteers and funding for many fun events for our children such as Family Fair, Spelling Bee, Science Fair, Book Fair, Field Day and Winds of Time.

PTA meetings are a great way to get involved and find out what is happening here at HCE. Following are the PTA meetings for 2011-2012 school year are:

1.             September 20 at 6:00 at the home of Nicole Manning (907 Wade Hampton)
2.             November 29 at 8:30 a.m. in the Discovery Center at HCE
3.            January 31 at 6:00 at the home of Stephanie Carr (708 Kuhlman)
4.            April 3 at 8:30 a.m. in the Discovery Center at HCE
5.             May 22 at 10:00 location TBA

I cannot express enough the importance of attending these meetings.  Everyone is welcome - bring a friend!  Topics that are discussed throughout the year are budget items, planning committee proposals (i.e.; where to spend any extra funds we may have throughout the year), changes in the school district, and many more!  These meetings are not only a great way to hear about what is going on within HCE, but it’s a great way to get to know other families at the school.  If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to join the PTA.  Lastly, feel free to contact me anytime.  It’s going to be a great year!
